FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

DatCard Awarded Four New Patents For Its PacsCube System And Medical Disc Publishing Technology

Patented Technology Used in Computer Systems That Record DICOM Images and Other Related Data to Portable Data Storage Devices

(Irvine, CA) August 13, 2010 -- DatCard Systems, Inc., a leading global supplier of DICOM digital distribution systems, announced today that the United States Patent and Trademark Office has awarded it four new patents, U.S. Patents 7,729,597, 7,734,157, 7,783,163, 7,783,174.  The four new patents are each directed to aspects of computing systems that record DICOM medical images and other related data onto portable digital storage devices.  In DatCard’s own commercial PacsCube® product, the storage device also includes a program that allows any user to view the images without the need for specialized pre-installed software.  The key technology covered by the patents facilitates sharing of critical medical information with health care providers and patients.

U.S. Patent No. 7,729,597 focuses on combining medical images and related data, such as radiological reports, on a single removable disc or other portable storage medium.  The disc or other storage medium may be inserted into the recording device manually or automatically by a robotic device as is done in DatCard’s commercial PacsCube® system.  U.S. Patent No. 7,734,157 focuses on the creation of auditable records of each disc produced.  U.S. Patent No. 7,783,163 focuses on the use of multiple production stations for producing the discs. U.S. Patent No. 7,783,174 focuses on the overall system for producing discs containing medical images.  DatCard has obtained these patents in addition to its original patent, U.S. Patent 7,302,164.

“DatCard is pleased that the United States Patent and Trademark Office has recognized the significance of DatCard’s inventions by awarding a total of five patents for different aspects of these inventions,” said Andrew Rosenzweig, Vice President of Sales & Marketing for DatCard Systems.  DatCard considers its patents to be among its most important assets and will protect and defend its intellectual property rights.
