DatCard Awarded Patent for PacsCube and SmartLine Medical Imaging Software Systems
Patented Technology Used to Distribute and Record DICOM Images to Portable Media Readable without Specialized Viewing Software
(Irvine, CA) November 27, 2007 -- DatCard Systems, Inc., software developer, integrator and a leading global supplier of DICOM digital distribution systems, announced today that is has been awarded by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office a patent for the company’s PacsCube and SmartLine products. U.S. Patent 7,302,164 is directed to systems that are used to distribute and record DICOM medical image data onto CDs or DVDs that can be read without specialized viewing software.
The PacsCube and SmartLine products enable the retrieval of relevant patient image data through the standardized DICOM Imaging protocol. Included with image data is coinciding textual and educational content relevant to each patient. Hospitals may also provide a fully customized marketing message on each disc produced.
“Our SmartLine products provide patients with comprehensive, personalized medical information on disc, replacing printed handouts and reducing consultation times,” said Andrew Rosenzweig, president and CEO of DatCard Systems. “Patients can watch procedure videos, read background information about their diagnosis or bring their medical images and records on disc to a specialist for further review. MammoSmart, a specialized SmartLine system dedicated to breast health care and medical records, truly empowers women to take control of their breast health care.”
The MammoSmart solution is a revolutionary means of providing and empowering patients with their complete mammography history and breast care information on an automatically produced CD or DVD. Depending on the facility, this information may include mammography history, patient health data, educational/instructional content and medical images.
Using the patented technology, the PacsCube and SmartLine integrated solutions provide an automated and cost-effective alternative to conventional film-based systems for distributing medical image data to patients, physicians and other medical personnel. DatCard believes that this innovative technology will enable hospitals to better communicate, market their services, save storage space and realize significant cost savings.
